World of American Universities
Many students want to go to the best school they can. Colleges and universities in the USA are ranked each year by US News and World Report and a few other websites. These websites show you how colleges compare to each other based on many factors.
Ranking factors include:
a. Graduation rates – the number of students who enroll at a college and stay until graduation
b. Student satisfaction – how happy students are with the academics, activities, and support
c. Academic reputation – the opinions of people like high school counselors and teachers
d. Class size – how many students are in a typical class
e. Faculty qualifications – how educated and knowledgeable the teachers are
f. Selectivity – how difficult it is to be accepted
g. Tuition – how much it costs to attend
Which U.S. university do you think is #1 this year? Why?
This is the first of three modules in the Pathway to a Top University course. This module contains six units that will guide you through different aspects of the U.S. higher education system. You’ll demonstrate what you’ve learned by completing short research assignments in order to create profiles for six universities. The University Profiles Project (UPP) is the final project for this module.
