Practical English

Unit 13 Introduction

  • To write a short journal entries on language learning experiences.

Have you ever written your personal experiences in a journal or on a blog? It’s a great way to see your progress and to remember helpful or interesting experiences, places, or resources. Keeping a journal or blog – for class or for personal reasons – can be a fun way to practice foreign language skills.

Over the next two weeks, class activities in the Practical English module will be focused on the four major language skills: writing, reading, speaking, and listening. You’ll be asked to keep an English journal to reflect on your skills, what you’re learning, and your goals for the future.

We hope you’ll use this opportunity to watch your progress, and find new ways to practice English in your home country and when you study in the U.S.

This is the third and final module in the Pathway to a Top University course. This module contains 4 units, focusing on developing the four major skills in English: writing, reading, speaking, and listening. Students will practice their skills for everyday situations they are likely to encounter while living in the U.S., and reflect on their experiences and goals through writing journals.
